Midwife, Monitrice, Doula and Childbirth Educator
I first started reading about natural childbirth at age 22 when I first found out I was pregnant. The first
book I read was Special Delivery by Rahima Baldwin. 1994 marked the beginning of my journey into birth.
There were two homebirth midwives in town and I didn’t love either one but went with the one that was a little better of a fit for me. It was no surprise that I carried my daughter 3 weeks past her due date, making it impossible with
rted my education to become a homebirth midwife. I then immediately became pregnant with my son, choosing to remain with my same provider; I had another wonderful “natural” birth in the hospital.
Then my husband and I moved to AZ and then to UT where I welcomed 3 more children with not so great hospital births. So although I attended homebirths for family and friends, I was really starting to lose touch with myself. Fortunately, we moved to a small town in UT and right next door to a kindred spirit. Being pregnant with twins I found a homebirth midwife that I loved and was so thrilled that after five hospital births I was going to get the homebirth I wanted. Much to our sadness, those sweet babies were not meant to be with us at that time. The experience of that loss led my husband and me to a wonderful doctor whom we entrusted to our last pregnancy and delivery. Arriving at the hospital in labor with my son, the nurse announced that my baby was breech. The sweet doctor came in and said, “Let’s have this baby; I’ve delivered plenty of breech babies!” I, on the other hand wasn’t so sure. After experiencing the loss of our precious little twins at 4 ½ months I didn’t have quite the same amount of confidence. My son was born via cesarean.
We moved to
I had spent the last 10 years receiving training in herbs, energy work, aromatherapy, hypnosis (relaxation, meditation, visualization), breastfeeding, and self-help but wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with it all. I was so relieved to bring all of my experience and training full circle to my first true love of birth.
As I look back upon my journey that started, 14 years ago, there is nothing I would change. I believe at a young age I put out in the universe the field I would like to go into and life provided me the exact experiences I needed in order to become the midwife I longed to be. Although I have never had a homebirth, I trust birth completely and feel that I have a very well rounded view of the journey itself.
I love and consider it a privilege to assist women on their own unique journey. I started my apprenticeship in 2008 under the guidance of a wonderful senior CPM in
Because everyone’s journey through the miracle of pregnancy and birth is so unique; I offer support in an individual way to assist the woman and her partner in preparing and carrying out their plans for birth. I believe that knowledge is a powerful tool when brought to the journey that is birth; I have seen over and over again how wonderful birth is when you are prepared and aware of the choices that lie ahead. So whether you are just beginning your journey or are well along on the path I would be honored to walk beside you for a spell.
I am President and co-founder of Well Rounded Momma as well as a supporter of DONA, CELA, and BYN. I have received NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification. I am currently taking midwifery clients as a traditional midwife under the direction of a Senior CPM Midwife. My fee for midwifery is $2000. Payment Terms and Conditions Below I outline answers to the questions I am frequently asked regarding payment for my services. Can I set up a payment plan? When do I have to pay the balance by? What if I have insurance coverage? Thank you for your commitment to pay for your care so that I can continue to provide services to mothers and families as a midwife. I look forward to working with you!
My fee for doula/monitrice services for home and hospital birth are $700.
I'm available for consultations at the WRM Center.

As your midwife, I don't enjoy talking about money in relation to midwifery and never want issues regarding payment to interfere with my care giving or ability to develop a trusting relationship with you throughout your pregnancy. My work as a midwife is much more than a job, but the reality is that in order for me to be available 24 hours a day at your labor and birth, and to be accessible to answer questions and address concerns, I need to be paid in a timely and dependable manner. Sometimes, because we develop such a close relationship over the course of your care and because we are in a non-institutional setting, it is easy to forget that this is my only source of income.
I realize meeting the expenses will take some planning for most families and I am happy to work with you at the beginning of your time in my care to develop a clear and accountable financial payment plan. However, while I see my work as a midwife as a service, I have a non negotiable policy of never taking on clients fees as a debt. If meeting the fee is a problem I suggest you obtain a personal loan from other members of your own family or the many institutions set up to handle small loans.
The fee for your care must be paid in full by your 36-week home visit (this includes any barter/trade arrangements). I need to be paid before I go on call for your birth. I do not want to have talk about money after the birth, when you will have many other expenses and when you are, understandably and appropriately, focused on the baby and don't want to think about paying bills for services already rendered.
If you have insurance coverage, you are still expected to pay the full fee by 36 weeks and will be reimbursed accordingly once your insurance company pays for the services. This can take up to several months, and I can not accommodate this long of a delay in payment for my services.
