PLACENTA PREPARATION SERVICES

A practice known as placentophagy is believed to be a way to re-consume nutrients and hormones that would otherwise be lost during the birthing process. Almost all mammals consume their placenta after giving birth. While there are many theories about why this is so, studies have shown that there are nutrients and hormones present in a placenta. While most mammals consume it raw, we humans have the ability to cook it, dehydrate it and place it into capsules that are easy to take.

Reported Benefits

While we cannot guarantee these results, many mothers and studies report the following benefits.

Reduction of postpartum depression or ‘baby blues’.
Replenishing your iron from blood loss during birth and to prevent postpartum anemia.
A consistent flow of oxytocin long after your birth euphoria ends.
Providing the HPL hormone to help establish early and healthy milk supply.
Stabilized ever changing hormones post birth.
Replenished B vitamins and energy that were used during the labor and birthing process.

How it works

You will want to bring an insulated cooler with you to the hospital. Let the staff know you plan to take your placenta home with you. Once you are discharged you can put your frozen placenta in the cooler and take it home.

When you are home and ready for service, you'll call the front desk to schedule pickup or begin in-home service.

Your capsules are usually delivered to your home within 48-72 hours.

Placenta tincture is made using dehydrated placenta powder and steeping it in a high proof alcohol for 6 weeks. Alcohol helps extract the nutrients and hormones present in the powder and can preserve it for many years. We recommend using your tincture when you begin to get your period back and feel like you need some hormone support or are worried about a drop in milk supply. It may also be used during times of trauma, transition, emotional stress, future periods or menopause.

Your placenta salve is not only infused with placenta but also herbs that are traditionally used for healing skin tissue. Placenta has long been used in skincare for its healing and restorative properties. There are a number of expensive anti-aging lotions and creams containing “sheep placenta extract” as the secret ingredient. Your own placenta is much more potent and completely safe to use topically when properly prepared.
